1.
Preparing to apply mastic: Let’s clean the area where we will apply mastic with a dry cloth. It is important the area is not wet, humid and dirty so that the mastic will stick properly.
2.
Opening up the mastic bottle: Let’s take out the plastic end of the mastic bottle, flip it upside down and punch it in the bottle to open it. Once the bottle is open, let’s place the plastic top back on the bottle.
3.
Cutting the plastic top of the mastic: Let’s cut the plastic top of the polyurethane mastic with an utility knife in a slightly sloping angle, so that we can apply the mastic easily.
4.
Inserting the mastic in its gun: Let’s place the tube in the caulking gun & pull the trigger several times to make sure that it is settled in properly.
5.
Filling up the crack: Holding the caulking gun from the middle, let’s apply mastic and fill up the gap. Once the mastic is applied, we should flatten out with our fingers.
We finish the weatherproofing: Once we have finished filling up the gap, let’ s wait for 1-2 hours for it to dry.
Filling up baseboard cracks: Polyurethane mastic can also be used to fill up baseboard cracks. By applying the steps mentioned above, we can easily fill up the baseboard gaps with mastic.
