What You Need
Materials: New toilet lid, toilet lid hinges (they come with the new toilet lid) Tools: Screwdriver
Hint
Since the toilet lids are made of polyester and melamine, it is advised not to clean them with acidic detergents, such as bleach.
Buyer’s Tip: It would be a good idea to take the old toilet lid along with you to shopping because it may help with buying the right size. If you don’t want to carry the old lid with you, just draw the template of your old toilet lid on a piece of paper and cut it out with scissors.
Steps
1.
Removing the old toilet lid: We should remove the screws of the toilet lid. There can be two types of screws: upper-screw and lower-screw. If there is a screw on the upper part of the toilet, we can remove the right and left screws with a screwdriver. If there are nuts below the screws, we can unscrew them from below, turning towards left.
2.
Placing the hinges into their fixtures: After removing the old toilet lid, let’s place the hinges of the new toilet lid into the hinge fixtures manually.
3.
Fastening the new toilet lid: Please have the hinges seated into the hinge holes properly. If the toilet lid is upper–screw, we can tighten both screws in with a screwdriver. If it is lower-screw, we can tighten the nuts from below.
